Late Saturday night, Chuck D dropped an interesting bomb on his Twitter account: a letter, which he said he received from late rapper Tupac Shakur in 1995.
“Letter from Pac, but you should have seen mine,” he tweeted, posting an accompanying photo of the entire letter. Part of one edge is cut off, but the majority of the message, written in September 1995, Rolling Stone reports, from prison in New York.

In the letter, Tupac lathers the Public Enemy rapper with praise. “I’m sure u know how highly respected and loved u r by me so your letter definitely warmed my heart,” he wrote, referencing the letter Chuck D wrote that has not yet seen the light of day.
The rapper went on to talk about how he “learned so much from what u did and how u did it” and how he “alwayz played a major role in what it is I do 2day.”

Chuck D (@MrChuckD) June 22, 2014Shakur also offered Chuck D a part in an upcoming movie and even a guest spot on a song called “Da Struggle Continuez” for his album Euthanasia, an album that eventually became 1996’s All Eyez on Me.
He ended with encouraging words: “Thanks again, Chuck! I believe we can make a difference, and I have every intention of doing just that. Stay strong!”
The post comes as the late rapper pops up in the news quite a bit in the past few months. Recently, a Las Vegas policeman who was on the scene of Tupac’s 1996 death revealed the rapper’s supposed last words — “f— you” — while a musical using his music has recently opened on Broadway titled Holler If Ya Hear Me.
